Last week, Commercialization Reactor (CR) participated in the Latvian Business Angels Network (LatBan) Connect2Scale Kick-off event, filled with experience exchange by the vibrant deep-tech ecosystem in the Baltic region.
Here are some highlights:
📈 Cyril Golub, Chairman of the Board at LatBan, kicked off the event by presenting a comprehensive review of LatBan’s achievements in 2023, shedding light on the remarkable growth and impact of the organisation.
💡 Startup pitches, reflecting the innovation diversity in the entrepreneurial landscape.
🌐 As one of Latvia’s deep-tech industry leaders, our very own Ilona Gulchak took the stage during a fire-side chat with fellow industry colleagues (Diana Pershtein-Lapkis, Egita Polanska, Austin Nicholas, Andris Baumanis, Anita Titova (ex.Matisone), PhD, highlighting key aspects of CR’s commitment to driving innovation and fostering deep-tech startups in the Baltics:
1️⃣ 15 Years of Expertise: Commercialization Reactor, being the most experienced platform in the Baltics for commercialising both international and local science, is continuing its mission of creating cutting-edge deep-tech startups, by bringing together scientists, both local and foreign, with local entrepreneurs, as we believe that this is the only way how we as a country can grow exponentially and build a truly knowledge-based economy. The importance and success of CR’s methodology was recognised by EIT Deep Tech Talent Initiative in November 2023, awarding CR the 1st Place as the “Best Deep Tech Program in Europe”, cementing CR as one of the key deep-tech ecosystem players not only in Baltics, but also in Europe.
2️⃣ ESA BIC Latvia Launch in 2024: In 2023, CR was selected as the lead partner for European Space Agency Business Incubation Centre (ESA BIC) in Latvia, which is planned to be launched in 2024. We strongly believe that space technology is a powerful horizontal that intersects various industries (verticals), opening up new opportunities for the application of different technologies. 3️⃣ Eco-System Approach: Collaboration is key to success! Ilona emphasised the importance of an ecosystem approach, stressing the need for cooperation among various stakeholders to position Latvia as a hub for deep tech.
4️⃣ Investment Opportunities: Ilona shared figures in regards to current portfolio – 48 companies in our pre-seed and 8 in our seed portfolio, presenting a plethora of investment and co-investment opportunities for business angels looking to be part of the deep-tech revolution.
We once again would like to extend our gratitude to the Latvian Business Angels Network for organising such a warm event!
